valerie and justin were some of the nicest people ever! they decided to get married at estancia, and the rustic surroundings and california charm were perfect for all of their out of town guests. haydee created some really beautiful flower arrangements to enhance the existing flowers and landscaping at estancia. thank you to heather vallentyne for these awesome images!
so, anyone who knows me knows that i lived in texas for many years and adore the place! i was born in del rio, and my dad was stationed all around texas for years out of my childhood. although i have lived in san diego for many years, i still consider san antonio my hometown, the place i grew up. with that being said, it is no wonder that for the past 15 years i have wanted a pair of cowboy boots. i love them. i love how they look with a cute skirt, or an awesome pair of jeans. however, i never found the right pair, and my quest has continued.
and, anyone who knows me knows that i believe in the power of belief, and that i believe that i am lucky and blessed. so, fast forward about 15 years. i am sitting with a friend of mine who just lost her mom unexpectedly. my heart breaks for her still. she and her business partner moved all of her mom's belongings across the country and back to san diego. i met up with them for a dinner party when they rolled into town, and they asked me what i was asking for this christmas. i started out with my list~ a bbq, the tiffany bracelet i had been coveting, etc. etc....i ended the sentence with "and a pair of cowboy boots, but i ask for those every year." they looked at each other and asked what size i wore. then they asked what color i wanted. well, to make the story short, my friend told me that she would like to give me her mom's cowboy boots. the perfect pair of cowboy boots. only worn once by her mom, in amazing shape, with dark brown leather and light chocolate piping. of course, i answered "YES!!"
a few days later, i was handed the boots. i tried them on, and they are perfect. they are magical. i swore to my friend that i would wear them and always think of her mom, i would take them to places near and far. i would party in them, i would wear them with my kids. i will wear them to texas, i will wear them to the grocery store. i will give them a life outside of the box the came in, and i will be proud and honored each time i do. i will think of her mom, and i will think of my friend. it will be like the sisterhood of the traveling pants, but just with me and the boots! :) i wore them on new years, and we rocked. i will always rock in my cowboy boots, and i thank you Bek for sharing a piece of your mom and you with me. i will never forget it, and i will do you proud. :) without further ado, here they are in all of their glory :)
there is something so great about about a rehearsal party on the beach. what an awesome thing to show your guests. even if they are from san diego, no one ever gets tired of looking at that view! nathalie and conrad decided to host their guests for a relaxed bbq on the beach at the hotel del the night before the wedding. the weather was absolutely perfect, the food was so good, and the music and entertainment provided the perfect backdrop for the evening. thanks mike luna for the images!
warning! this is a long post :) how could it not be?? there were so many fun details that came together beautifully~ it was one of our favorite 2012 weddings! nathalie is an artist and is very eclectic. she really wanted her wedding to be a reflection of who she and conrad were as a couple, so we really went for it in the details! the ceremony was located on the beach at the hotel del coronado, and lavonne from adorations was instrumental in designing a whimsical, vintage vibe using found objects and tons of flowers! vintage window frames created the backdrop at the ceremony, and a huge bath tub filled with flowers was an awesome focal point under the chuppah. a sitar player was brought in to bring a really cool vibe to the ceremony, and the guests loved it. the sangria cocktails were tray passed in mason jars at cocktail hour. for dinner, nathalie and conrad wanted something really different, so with the help of hilary home from the hotel del, we created a custom menu with spanish influence. there was the manchego cheese and salad course, paella, shrimp gambas, and mussels were also served family style on long tables and smaller rounds. it was delicious! we were super lucky to have luna photo handling the photography for us, and traffic stop came down from la to keep the guests dancing all night. cake did a beautiful job with the wedding cake, and it was my pleasure to provide desserts for everyone through my other company room for dessert. all of the paper products were beautifully created by jen from jgrace. it was such a great wedding, and i was thrilled to be a part of it!
jessica and stephen were a great couple that traveled in from texas to get married in beautiful san diego. everything was just perfect, and jessica was absolutely beautiful in her gown...i loved that she used her grandmother's vintage mink stole. the ceremony took place at the founder's chapel at ucsd, and the reception took place at the prado in balboa park. paul barnett took the gorgeous photos, mike hogan was our dj, and lavonne from adorations did a beautiful job with the flowers. great job everyone, and congratulations to jessica & stephen!
i normally don't post too many rehearsal dinner events on the blog, but i decided to post garrett & kelly's.....they were such a great couple to work with, and their rehearsal at the diamond view towers started off the whole weekend right! they were surrounded by 120 of their closest family and friends and began celebrating the joining of two awesome families. crown point hooked us up with some awesome food, and fireworks finished the night off right! what a great party, and stay tuned for the wedding!
i know i say this a lot, but working with andrea & ben was **so.much.fun** andrea is an air force doctor, and ben is a pilot in the marines. their military wedding was fun from the very beginning of the process, down to the very last song of their wedding night. they chose to get married at the la jolla presbyterian church and then shuttled all of their 200 guests over to the midway ship for an awesome night of celebration. we were tied into a specific blue color since ben would be wearing his formal marine uniform for the ceremony. andrea chose to dress her girls in a similar shade of blue (her favorite color). butter yellow, silver and white were brought in to round out the color palette....lavonne from adorations captured the look and feel of the week perfectly, and boyd harris took such great photos to document the day. we brought in draping to soften the wall of the midway ship, and large blue glass lanterns hung over the dance floor to add to the overall lighting scheme. mike hogan provided the music that kept people dancing all night, and donuts were also on hand to feed the late night party goers. thank you to everyone involved, and thank you to andrea & ben for trusting us with your big day!
i was so happy to get to work with sam & brian for their wedding at the prado in balboa park. sam has such a unique and creative style~ it was a must to bring kathy wright in to execute the floral vision we had in mind. paul barnett captured the day in such a creative beautiful way, and the heroes kept people rocking all night. michele from mbride helped create the custom inez di santo dress, which was actually two dresses put together! it was so unique and definitely a showstopper! planning the wedding with sam and her family was definitely one of the highlights of the year!
trina & franky were such a cool couple, and they had tons of style. trina approached us to do her wedding, and had so many fun ideas and creative twists, we just had to do it!! since they were going to be at the photographic museum of arts, they wanted to do a retro vibed wedding, with bright colors. also inspired by the vintage crazy, trina wanted to complete many of the projects on their own. so, i sent them to do some serious homework! they began shopping at all of the flea markets and swap markets in town to find really cool vintage pieces that would add to the look. after moths of scouring the markets, they had a sizeable collection of glasses, old bottles, vintage signs & cameras, and many other details. i will let the pictures tell the story, as they are beautiful! thank you to studio castillero for your beautiful work. joseph comstock dj'd the event and spun the music from vinyl records, a special request from trina and franky. the day was just beautiful, and with these amazing details, how could you go wrong?? :) [gallery link="file"]
i loved this wedding! the details were so much fun, and cindy was the best bride to work with! her energetic vibe and laid back approach to planning the wedding was so much fun....cindy and john got married at the san diego yacht club, and the wedding turned out beautifully. the details all came together to create something fun and fresh and unique. we decided to use the colors of grey and white with the pop of yellow, and it was a perfect color combo for the yacht club. the numerous hand made details added even more to the day. adorations provided the unique decor for the day, and mike hogan kept the party rocking all night. i am in love with the photos from heather vallentyne, seriously, i could have blogged 1000 more pictures!! thanks to john and cindy for allowing us to play such a huge part in your day!
please forgive the looooong blog post, but i loved so much about this wedding and the pictures are great too!! jennifer dery hooked us up with some really great shots of heather & randy's wedding at the lodge at torrey pines. as i've said before, i love the lodge, and the ceremony site and reception this time around were beautiful~ thanks to lavonne at adorations! i loved the concept of this wedding~ hawaii meets the lodge :) heather and her entire family is from hawaii, and everyone flew over to help celebrate the day. orchids, rocks and dark wood were brought together to blend the styles, and it was just beautiful! their wedding took place during the soccer world cup, and the groomsmen brought vuvuzelas to the wedding to help celebrate in style! heather wore a beautiful necklace that was given to her by her grandfather, and it set off the dress perfectly. planning was so much fun with heather, her decisiveness was wonderful! the ceremony music was performed by the section quartet, and let me tell you~ they rocked! i loved the processional song choice- "everlong" by the foo fighters. the la allstars were here to keep the guests entertained through the reception, and they definitely delivered. we had specialty chairs and linens from classic party rentals, and cabanas brought in especially for the cocktail hour. it was a perfect day with great details, and we could not be happier for heather and randy!
what a lucky day we had when sherry and paul came our way! they were the two most gracious fun people~ their wedding planning was the same! sherry was seriously organized and detailed, and at the end of the day, the really just wanted to have FUN! they started off right by picking wayne foster as their band, and followed up their great decisions with jennifer dery as the photographer. They chose the Hilton Bayfront to accommodate their 200 guests, and they held the ceremony at mary star of the sea in la jolla. joyce lavigne provided these beautiful flowers, and the purple uplighting added to the ambiance. it was a beautiful wedding with perfect weather and a gorgeous sunset. Congrats you two!!
i was super lucky this year and got to work at one of my favorite properties~ the lodge at torrey pines~ quite a few times! i ADORE the lodge~ it is one of the most beautiful places to get married at, the staff is attentive and awesome to work with, the catering team is exceptional, the food is beautiful and delicious, and i obviously could go on and on!! needless to say, when rachel and john contacted me about doing their wedding and i jumped at the chance! rachel and john chose some of my most favorite vendors for their wedding~ luna photo was in charge of capturing the details and moments of the day with their amazing photographer's eye. lavonne from adorations created one of my most favorite and beautiful ceremony structures ever, and did amazing work on the rest of the flowers and decor, and wayne foster kept the guests entertained all night. russell was back in san diego again to video the day, and i was in heaven surrounded with the creative team that we had assembled. rachel and john were so much fun to work with, they knew exactly the vibe they wanted to set for their guests. great food, and a fun party. the day went just as we had planned~ rachel even made her own veil just minutes before going down the aisle! after the ceremony, they received a standing ovation :). their laid back style really transferred over to their guests, and people had so much fun dancing all night long. john gave one of my most favorite speeches ever, and the crowd loved it! congratulations rachel and john, and thank you for choosing us to help you with your day! emily and ted's wedding was so filled with details~ my very favorite kind of a wedding! they decided to get married at l'auberge in del mar, with the ceremony overlooking the pacific ocean at seagrove park. they wanted to incorporate the textures, colors and feel of the ocean, without a ton of seashells and the usual "look" of an ocean side event. we enlisted the help of lavonne at adorations, and we were off and running! beautiful corals, vibrant teal blues, and tons of textures were incorporated into the design. sea fans, coral, and unique flowers were also used to create the look....cocktails overlooked the ocean as well, and then guests moved over to l'auberge's rooftop to dine. after dinner, the guests were escorted downstairs where they were greeted with lounge furniture, a custom dance floor by platinum productions, and a liquid nitrogen ice cream station by sensational treats. a custom gobo in the same design as their invitation also was on display, and we shined that onto the waterfall. it was a beautiful event with gorgeous details, and an awesome couple. thank you to miles pelky for dj'ing, oscar aragon for his guitar skills, and to cary pennington for capturing the day. the photos are beautiful!!
mari & dave were married at the gorgeous ritz carlton in laguna niguel. mari was determined from the beginning to fill the wedding with purple, silver and tons of bling......from the hanging crystals to the silver chargers, this idea was carried through the entire event. we settled on the ritz overlooking the pacific, and what a view it provided! i have to admit that i was **very** nervous on the wedding day that all of our plans and carefully laid out ideas for flowers would need to be altered. as i left the house that morning from san diego, rain was literally pouring in sheets ~ we could barely see out of the windows!! as we made our way further up the coast, though, the clouds literally parted, and we were left with one of the most beautiful fall days ever~ perfectly sunny and bright! we had such a fun crew of vendors~ tim otto provided the beautiful images, and he is such a blast to work with :) spencer bezy provided the music, and he kept the energy high all night. russell fowler documented the day with his awesome videography skills, and the staff at the ritz were generous and extremely helpful. tess provided the most beautiful and abundant flowers for mari~ she was thrilled with the final result! congratulations dave and mari~ we wish you the very best!!
what an honor to get chosen to do the knot party for san diego vendors!! we had so much fun putting together a super fun party for tons of san diego peeps. we got a chance to pull in some of our very favorites, and also got the opportunity to work with some new vendors as well! anyone who knows me knows that i love the east coast, and the easy, summer style that they have out there. so, when they told me that the venue was going to be at the highly sought after scripps forum, i immediately began thinking about a hampton's inspired party......and off we went! the details were so much fun~ nautical knots, clam chowder station, white breezy cabanas, sun bleached star fish, local san diego beers, seafood, liquid nitrogen ice cream station and the crisp teal blue that picked up the color of the ocean. here are a few details shots of the day, and thank you SO much to all of my new and old vendor friends who helped along the way! Florals~ Adorations......Photos~ Joshua Aull Photo.......Emceeing and Lighting Galore~ Mike Hogan.......Music~ Tijuana Dogs.........Catering~ Continental Catering........Rentals~ Classic Party Rentals.......Cabanas and other cool things~ Kool party rentals........Bar~ Barworks.......Coffee~ Joe's on the Nose.......Ice Cream~ Sensational Treats......Video~ Jason Taylor........Photobooth~ Shutterbooth.....Live Event Artist......Cotton Candy~ Tasty Clouds......and of course, Scripps Seaside Forum.......I would also like to thank my family for helping with some of the details, and without a doubt, my staff who are always down to put on a great party!! :)
rachel & mike were SO much fun to work with. i know that i say that about most of my clients, and it is true! but there was something so special and fun with them, it was a blast! the details on this wedding were so super detailed that it took hours for my girls to set it all up :) not one thing was overlooked~ we went with hot pink, black and white for the colors, and we repeated it everywhere! mike owns bars, so we wanted the focus of the party to be on the fun, cool aspect that a great bar can bring. from the custom converse shoes for the guys to the 16 feet of the candy bar, the pink, black and white was everywhere. rachel and mike chose the andaz for their day, and we took it over. the rooftop provided the perfect setting for the ceremony and cocktail hour. after that, the guests were invited downstairs where the passed food and food stations were abundant, and the specialty drinks were flowing! after dinner was complete, the 200 guests moved downstairs to the "envy" nightclub to dance the night away. the tijuana dogs kept everyone entertained, and mike even surprised rachel with a performance by scot russo from the band "unwritten law". luna photo took all the photos, and steve luxenberg provided the super cool video shown here....the girls at cake hooked us up with a super cool custom chocolate cake with rachel & mike's photos on it, and lavonne zamora went over the top with the decor again! rachel and mike are the coolest, and their wedding was no exception!! thanks everyone!
one of the best things about my job is getting to be creative in a variety of ways. so, when i'm asked to do a magazine shoot, i usually jump at the chance! lucky for me, lavonne zamora of adorations invited me to participate in a photo shoot with her for exquisite magazine, and we had so much fun collaborating on the shoot! lavonne's eye for unique styling and awesome color combinations is so much fun to be around~ it is sometimes hard to narrow it all down! this is the latest~ hope you enjoy! thank you also to the following vendors who lent their talent to our shoot:
